Teresa Gompf, daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Norris Gompf, 705 Fern Ave., won the bicycle for her first place win in the Valleywide Scrabble contest.

Construction of a third desalting plant, using technology tested so far only in models, is underway on the East Mesa.  The new plant uses electrodialysis to separate sodium and chlorine ions from water.

The annual Easter Egg hunt financed by the Chamber of Commerce and put on by Job’s Daughters, will feature Terri King as the Easter Bunny.

Adults joined the youth of the Methodist Church in a desert picnic on the Glamis Dunes.  Around 100 people were there, including a group of kids from the Glendale Methodist Church.

Six candidates are in the running for the two vacancies on the city council.  They are: Carroll B. Marquand, Luke Reichle, Jim Ware, Merle A. Blair, Lester C. Hagan and R. N. Clairborne.

Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Ferguson of Redlands announced the birth of their second daughter, Rhonda Ann, who weighed eight pounds, five ounces.
