Blythe station Border Patrol agents found 112 plastic-wrapped bundles hidden beneath the sleeper bed of a semi-tractor trailer at the Highway 78 checkpoint near Palo Verde, Calif. on Thursday.

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma sector seized more than $250,000 in marijuana and arrested a suspected drug smuggler at the checkpoint on Highway 78 near Palo Verde on Thursday.

At about 5:30 p.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Blythe station encountered a white semi-tractor trailer at the checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine team alerted to the semi, indicating the likely presence of concealed illicit contraband.

Agents referred the tractor trailer for secondary inspection where they uncovered 112 plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana hidden beneath the sleeper bed in the cab of the truck. The driver, a 54-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested.

The packages of marijuana weighed a combined 322 pounds with an estimated street value of $257,600.

The driver, semi and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

It was reported that three teenagers were seen throwing a rock at a parked vehicle’s windshield, which completely shattered, the subjects left soon after and were not rounded up, and a report was taken for the vandalized vehicle.

It was reported that a few stray dogs are in the neighborhood, they are not wearing leashes and seem to be interested in knocking down dumpsters. The caller stated that they’ve been in the area before, but always seem to evade capture, the dogs left the area.

Someone called police to report that an unknown subject had thrown a rock through a very large window at their residence. The window was valued at $400.  A report was taken and the caller was advised of his options.

Someone called police to report spotting two prowlers in their back yard. The caller stated that they fled seconds before an officer arrived. Police were unable to locate the two subjects.

QUICK BUCK:

Someone called police to report that an approximately 30-year-old male was trying to sell a pocket knife to people in the area. The caller stated that the subject appears to have been drinking. The subject left the area before officers arrived. The caller was asked to call back should he return.

Someone called police to report a fight between one male subject and one female subject. The caller stated that neither seemed to be hurt or in need of medical attention. Police contacted the couple, but they appeared to have worked their problems out.

PURSE AND SUCH:

Someone called police to report that their Jeep had been broken into. The jeep was left unlocked. The caller’s purse, which contained $200 dollars, was found to be missing. The passenger side window of the vehicle was also broken. The caller was advised of her options and a report was taken.

Someone called police to report returning from running errands to find an unknown subject leaving their home through a back bedroom window. Officers made a perimeter check, but found no one in the area. The caller was advised of his options.

PERSONAL INVESTIGATION:

Someone called police to report that her husband had spotting a suspicious subject in a neighbor’s back yard. The caller stated that her husband has gone to investigate since the neighbors are out of town. The subject fled the area before an officer could arrive. The caller was advised to call back should the subject return.

Someone called police to report a large dog chasing a male subject in the area. An officer contact the subject and he appeared to be fine. The dog was gone from the area. Animal control was contacted and the caller was advised to call back should the dog return.

BEER CAN RUN:

Someone called police to report that a male subject who had been loitering in front of a store had just ran into the store and ran out without paying for a can of beer. The subject was headed towards the park. Police were unable to locate the man. The caller was advised to call back should he return.

WATCH YOUR SPEED:

Someone called police to report that a subject driving a large pickup truck and towing a trailer was driving recklessly in the area. The subject nearly ran the caller off the road. Police were unable to locate the subject.

Someone called police to report having his bicycle stolen while inside a restaurant. The bike was not locked. A report was taken and the caller was advised to invest in a bike chain.

DO NOT TRESPASS:

A mother called police to report that her son is trespassing at her home and would like for him to leave. The subject was advised to not return or risk being arrested for trespassing. The subject complied.

FAMILY PROBLEMS:

Someone called police to report that two family members were having a loud argument and disturbing the peace. Officers found that one member of the family was not welcome at the residence and was asked to leave. The caller was advised to obtain a restraining order.

Someone called police to report an intoxicated male subject in the area making a lot of noise. Officers contacted the subject and advised him to go home. He complied.

GOOD THING IT’S LOCKED:

Someone called police to report an unidentified subject trying to force open the front door of a residence in the area. The home was searched, but no one was found on the property. The caller was advised to call back should he notice anything out of the ordinary.

A female subject called police to report that another female, who she had been fighting with, had returned and thrown a half-eaten burrito at her vehicle. The caller was advised of her options.

PIPE ON FISTS:

Someone called police to report two subjects in a physical fight. The caller stated that one of the subjects is holding a pipe. The area was checked, but neither of the subjects were found. The caller was advised to call back should they return for a second round.

Someone called police to report a large, black dog loose in the area. The breed of the dog was unknown. The caller was worried that the dog might harm one of the children playing in the street. The situation was handled.

Two neighbors both called police to report each other. One of the neighbors was upset about the other playing loud music and yelling, and the other neighbor claimed he was being harassed. Both were counseled and warned.

Someone called police to report hearing a couple screaming, crying, and fighting. Officers made contact with the couple who said that they were just horsing around. They were asked to keep it down.

Someone called police to report that three subjects had jumped his fence and are in the back yard. The subjects appeared to be trying to take a shortcut. The caller was advised to call back should they return

NOTHING GOING ON HERE:

Someone called police to report a group of teenagers drinking alcohol at a party. An officer visited the party, but didn’t find any teenagers drinking.

FOAMING AT THE MOUTH:

Someone called police to report a large, black dog that appeared to be rabid chasing people around the neighborhood. The owner retrieved the dog and took it into her residence. She was warned to keep the dog in her backyard, and to take it to a vet.

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER:

Someone called police to report a mother and daughter arguing loudly in the area. An officer made contact with the two subjects and handled the situation.  Both were counseled and advised on how to deal with their situation, should it ever come up again.

POST OFFICE INN:

Someone called police to report a homeless man with a shopping cart sleeping behind the post office. An officer woke the man up and sent him on his way. He advised the subject to not come back.

TAGGING:

Someone called police to report that a wall at his residence had been vandalized. The incident was documented and the caller was advised to call back should he spot any suspicious activity in the area.

STAND FOR A MOMENT:

A local maintenance worker called police to report that a group of homeless men in the park are preventing him from cleaning the park benches. An officer arrived and sent the subjects on their way and the caller was able to do his job.
