The Holtville water department employees are working vigorously to place a stainless steel sleeve over the rushing water pouring from a 14” main water line. If they are successful it would eliminate the necessity of suiting down the entire water supply.

The City of Holtville has experienced 2 water pipeline failures this morning. The first occurred around 8:30 am on Tuesday morning at 4th Street and Fern Avenue and then another line broke in the alley on 6th Street between Walnut and Maple. The City has reduced to water pressure down to 20psi in an attempt to make the necessary repairs without disrupting the water supply. The City of Holtville has experienced a major water main break at the corner of 4th Street and Fern Avenue. The repair of this high pressure line may require the shutdown of the water plant for the city of Holtville. Holtville residents are being advised to store up some water over the next hour as the water plant shutdown will mean that there is no water for the city of Holtville for several hours.
