Each year, Soroptimist International clubs throughout the country recognize deserving women. SI Holtville has been participating annually in this recognition thru the Women’s Opportunity Award, which is given to a woman who is furthering her education and making great strides towards improving the lives of herself and her family.
SI Holtville was happy to present this award, along with a check for $1000 to Linda Anderson at the annual Awards Luncheon held this past Tuesday, March 26th, at the Woman’s Club.
Linda, a single mother of two, wrote a moving and inspiring essay about her life journey, and what she has done to overcome some obstacles that she has faced. She stated that she found counseling and education to be great tools to help her overcome her obstacles, and she had a desire to make those things available to others who are facing issues. To do so, Linda has returned to school and complete her Bachelors degree. She is currently working on her Masters in Counseling Psychology and is set to graduate in May of 2014.
She says that it is her desire to use her life lessons and education “to help others find hope and healing in their lives and relationships and to discover personal strengths as they choose a life of wholeness; a life they are proud to own.”
Linda was chosen to receive this award based on the application she submitted to the club.
