Wellton, Arizona – On June 5, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents seized approximately 360 pounds of marijuana that was abandoned in the desert.
Agents assigned to Wellton Station were patrolling east of Camp Grip near Davidson Canyon when they discovered eight bundles of marijuana abandoned in the desert. The bundles contained a total of 16 plastic-wrapped packages. The narcotics, with an estimated street value of $180,000, were seized and transported to Yuma Sector Headquarters.
Camp Grip is a forward operating base located on the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge and staffed by agents assigned to the Yuma Sector.
