Soroptimist International of Calexico to Induct New Members

Soroptimist International of Calexico will be inducting new members to its club during a
ceremony taking place at Best Western John Jay Inn–2455 Scaroni Road, Calexico at
6:30PM on Thursday June 16, 2011.
New Members will be welcomed into a worldwide organization of members who are
committed to improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout
the world.
Soroptimist is a coined Latin word meaning “best for women,” and that’s what the Calexico
Chapter strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other
women to be their best. They believe in dreams and the collective power of working together
to achieve them.
Soroptimist membership celebrates the unique power of women. It’s a gift that women give
to themselves: the chance to help others in an atmosphere of support, friendship and fun. SI
Calexico looks forward to helping the new members explore the gift of membership as they
can now participate in club projects and activities that advance the Chapter’s mission.
As a token of their new membership, each member will be participating in a pinning
ceremony. The pin they will receive represents their commitment to the SI Calexico mission
and to empowering women and girls to live their dreams by giving them the resources to
create positive change for themselves, their families, their communities and the world.
Following the new member induction, the club will be installing a new treasurer and
presenting a donation to the Imperial Valley Food Bank, allowing new members to
experience Soroptimist International of Calexico’s dedication to giving back to the
community. This year the club has donated over $3500 to programs benefitting women and
girls in our local community through scholarships, service projects and donations.
