Grandstands musical entertainment will come in all forms and styles during the 2011 California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta March 4 to 13.
For Metal fans, there will be Damage, Inc.-a Tribute to Metallica that will take the grandstand stage on the opening night, March 4. Right behind them on March 5 will be Skynnyn Lynnyyrd-a Tribute to Lynyrd Skynrd.
Music will mellow out the following weekend when Swift Country-a Salute to Taylor Swift will take the stage on Friday March 11. Then for “Chicago” fans, Chicago Tribute Authority-a Salute to Chicago will perform on Saturday March 12.
Damage, Inc. has been performing the music of Metallica in venues throughout Southern California for more than two years. Its members all contribute certain styles that capture a mix of classic Metallica, with the energy and intensity similar to one of their live performances.
Skynnyn Lynnyrd takes on the honest and often edgy music of Lynyrd Skinner by re-assembling the music of the legendary 1970s era rock group that disbanded after a tragic plane crash in 1977 that ended the lives of Ronnie VanZant, Steve and Cassie Gains, as well as Dean Kilpatrick.
And Kaylee Starr, a young powerhouse country singer in her own right, brings Swift Country–Salute to Taylor Swift to the Grandstand Stage. Starr has built a resume of lead theatrical performances and live venue appearances at numerous fairs throughout the country.
Chicago Tribute Authority is an upbeat tribute to Chicago and will transport audiences on a non-stop journey that includes many of that band’s greatest hits. Chicago is the only American rock band to chart in the Top 40 throughout five consecutive decades and boasts a fan base that spans all ages.
The 2011 California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta will celebrate Imperial County’s burgeoning alternative energy industry with a theme of “”It’s a Green Thing, Celebrating Our Renewable Future.”
The fair will open at noon March 4 with a special Military Appreciation Day where military personnel plus one guest will have free admission all day.
