… FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF ARIZONA AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA… INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS… IN ARIZONA… LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY AZ… NORTHWEST MARICOPA COUNTY… SOUTHWEST DESERTS… WEST CENTRAL DESERTS AND YUMA/MARTINEZ LAKE AND VICINITY. IN EXTREME SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA… IMPERIAL COUNTY… LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY CA AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY/EASTERN DESERTS.

* FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING

* A SLOW MOVING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BRING AN INCREASING CHANCE OF SHOWERS TO THE REGION LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT. RAINFALL TOTALS DURING THIS EVENT COULD EXCEED 1 INCH ACROSS THE LOWER DESERTS… AND COULD REACH AN INCH AND A HALF ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN NEAR WENDEN AND WICKENBURG. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS AND NORMALLY DRY WASHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING OF WASHES… CREEKS AND OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS IS POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. IF YOU ARE IN THE WATCH AREA… YOU SHOULD WATCH THE WEATHER AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING OCCUR OR A FLASH FLOOD WARNING BE ISSUED.
