This statement was issued by the Imperial County Health Officer yesterday afternoon in regards to the potential spill in the Holtville area.
What should residents be doing?

The County Health Officer, Dr. Stephen Munday has issued the following statement for affected residents:

The Public Health Department is aware that residents are concerned about this potential spill and residents are asked to cooperate fully with county staff who are conducting the investigation.  At this point, a laboratory confirmation has not yet been received of what was spilled in the area however, all precautionary measures that have been taken at this point have been appropriate.


· The public is asked that if there is a strange odor coming from their cistern, not to bathe or use the water for themselves or their animals and contact the IID at 760-339-9380 so that it can be investigated and flushed if necessary and filled with clean water.  Any lines that carry water on the property should also be flushed.

    · If individuals experience unexpected symptoms and are concerned that they could have been exposed then they are asked to seek the advice of their healthcare provider.
