AMERICAN RED CROSS ASSISTS THOSE AFFECTED BY EXPLOSION IN SAN BRUNO

San Diego, September 10, 2010 –The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is on the scene assisting those affected by the tank explosion in San Bruno, California, which occurred yesterday, September 9, 2010.

The San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter of the Red Cross has not been asked to assist the response operations but are ready to provide support services to the Bay Area chapter if requested.

The Bay Area Chapter is supporting an evacuation center located at the Bayhill Shopping Center in San Bruno. The Red Cross is also supporting shelter operations at two shelters providing food, shelter and counseling to those affected. There are currently over 100 people using the shelters facilities.
