NILAND, Calif. – On August 5, Indio Station agents interdicted a cocaine smuggling attempt with an estimated value of nearly $1 million. San Diego State University Imperial Valley Campus Welcomes New Dean
By Mario Conde San Diego State University Imperial Valley Campus welcomed David Pearson as the new Dean of the Calexico campus. Pearson earned his doctorate in philosophy and sociology at Yale University in 1988. He received his master’s degree in sociology from Yale in 1981 and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Calexico Fire Department to Fill Vacancies
By Mario Conde The Calexico City Council gave authorization to the Calexico Fire department to fill vacancies caused by pending retirements and conduct internal promotions for fire captain and apparatus engineer. Calexico Fire Chief Pete Mercado made a presentation to the Calexico City Council last week saying that two fire captains filed for retirement and caused vacancies among the suppression staff of his department.
