U.S. Marines to hold Exercises in Brawley and Yuma

U.S. Marines plan to hold exercises simulating the evacuation of civilians from locations in Yuma, Ariz., and Brawley, Calif., on Friday evening.

The Marine exercises will include aircraft landings and takeoffs from West Wetlands Park and the Trinity Christian Center in Yuma and Pat Williams Park in Brawley.

Marine officials say the troops will be carrying weapons, but they will be unloaded.

The public is welcome to watch the exercises but warned to stay a safe distance away to avoid hampering the training or being injured by debris kicked up by helicopter rotor wash.

The Marines involved are part of a weapons and tactics instructor course at the Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma. The exercise will run from 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
