Holtville Lady Vikings Shows Some Fight

The Lady Vikings were off to Imperial Friday night for a game with the Tigers.

The Tigers came out fired up and scored 3 runs in the first and 1 run in the second and third innings. The Vikings came back in the forth with a 5 run inning to tie the game. In the sixth inning the Tigers scored 4 more to go ahead 9 to 5. The Vikings fought back in the seventh with a Bethany Lehman shot off the top of the center field fence and scored 4 to tie the game 9 to 9. The Vikings held the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh to take it into extra innings. In the top of the eight inning, the Vikings had runners at second and third with one out, the Vikings got a base hit scoring one, but Demi Johnson was out at the plate. The Vikings had a 10-9 lead going into the bottom of the eighth. The Tighes came up in the bottom of the eighth with the first batter fouling out the second batter got a base hit. The runner stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. With two out and a runner on third the tigers hit a line drive to left-center that was caught by Cassie Acosta on the run, to end the game, giving the Vikings the 10-9 win in a nail biter.
