Jeff Burt, a junior mathematics major at SDSU IV Campus, distinguished himself and our campus program by scoring a nine in the prestigious Putnam competition. While a nine may sound low, half of the best students in the country score less than a “one” in this competition each year. Way to go Jeff!
Rosa Lemus, also a junior mathematics major, has been accepted to participate in an NSF funded Research Experience for Undergraduates at Rice University. Rice is a leading research institution located in Houston, Texas. Funding for Rosa will include summer 2010 stipend and living expenses, along with transportation to Rice and a national conference to present the results of her work. Congratulations Rosa!
David Torres is a graduate from the BA in math program at SDSU IV Campus. He is currently a student in joint PhD program in Computational Sciences at SDSU and Claremont Graduate University. David has been advannced to candidacy for the PhD, having successfully defended his research proposal for “Assessment of Contractile Activity in Isolated Neomatal and Adult Cardiocytes using Image Analysis Methods. Keep up the good work, David!
Everyone is invited to the SDSU-Imperial Valley Campus as it presents a Portfolio Fair to be held on Tuesday, May 18th from 4:30 until 6:00 pm in the Steppling Art Gallery . Seven special education teachers completing their level 11 credentials this spring will be participating. Each candidate has developed and Individual Professional Credential Induction Plan that has guided their professional activities for the past two years. Refreshments will be provided.
