With the mission of helping the most in need and lending them a hand to get the tools for a better future, the Calexico Neighborhood House welcomed a $200,000 check from Rep. Bob Filner (D-Chula Vista) for construction of the new Casa Villanueva.

In a small reception held at Homestyle Buffet in Calexico, members of the Calexico Neighborhood House in Calexico presented their plans to construct a new shelter for people that are in the most need. The group assists people with low income and helps them and provides them with financial, medical, and other kinds of assistance whichever the case is.

Rep. Bob Filner commended the work of the Neighborhood House and said the shelter will give back to the community. Filner said that the hard work of the organization is giving a future for people that didn’t have it.

Neighborhood House will continue to fund raise for money since they still need more money to finish the project. They will go to the Calexico Redevelopment Agency and ask for funding for this project. Executive Director Ricardo Ortega asked the community to support the project. Donations will be gladly accepted.
