Rain Can’t Stop a Parade

Raindrops could not keep the crowds away from the City of Holtville Saturday as thousands flocked to the 63 annual Holtville Carrot Festival Parade. This year’s theme was “Field of Dreams”. This year’s winner for best use of theme was Noah’s Ark Preschool and the overall Sweepstakes Winner was Calexico High School Mighty Bulldog Band. We hope you enjoy these slide-show and videos.

Hope for Haiti in El Centro

Thanks to the generosity of Imperial Valley Residents, earthquake victims in Haiti will receive badly needed food, medicine, shelter and more.

The American Red Cross, working with the City of El Centro and the Imperial Valley Press, held a ‘Hope for Haiti’ event Thursday at the El Centro Town Commons. The event raised $3,528 for desperate Haitians by selling food, drinks, T-Shirts, and art donated by local artists. According to Sylvia Preciado, manager of the American Red Cross Imperial Valley Service Center, the donations are still pouring in.

Different Points of View Clash in Calexico

Different points of view clash in Calexico about the possible disbanding of the Calexico Heffernan Memorial Hospital District.

Rumors of a possible disbandment started in early January since it was stated a group of citizens in Calexico were going to start gathering signatures to put a measure in the ballot to dissolve the Heffernan District. The board will face an investigation by the County Grand Jury for misappropriation of public funds because of their land deal with the now extinct Mega Park project were the board gave the developer $500,000 in hopes of creating a medical center.

A Latin Invasion is About to Rock The Imperial Valley

A Latin Invasion is about to rock the Imperial Valley as LSA will perform in El Centro next week for the first time ever.

The Latin Supremo All-Stars will perform for the first time in the Imperial Valley this February 19th delivering Latin hip-hop, cumbia,  R&B, salsa and a lot of energy at their concert.

The Imperial Regional Center Coming Soon

The Imperial County will have new jewel very soon as the ground breaking ceremony of the Imperial Regional Center marks the first step for this ambitious project.

The County Board of Supervisors approved in December to grant TC Construction contract for the construction of the project. The Imperial Regional Center will provide a variety of mixed uses including commercial retail and service oriented uses as well as cultural lifestyle uses such as outdoor recreational park or plaza areas intended for public uses such as pedestrian walkways, waterways, and Green Roofs.
